Almond Tree Children’s village

Nelson Mandela Day Initiative – 18 July 2024

On Nelson Mandela Day this year, Motseng proudly aligned its Corporate Social Investment (CSI) efforts with WPN to support the Almond Tree Children’s Village, reflecting our commitment to empowering communities and creating lasting social impact. In line with Motseng’s CSI strategy, which focuses on uplifting the most vulnerable members of society, our team donated clothing and essential cleaning products, which we personally delivered to the Village. We also assisted in organizing the donated items by age categories, ensuring that resources are efficiently allocated to those in need.

The Almond Tree Children’s Village currently cares for 65 children of varying ages, providing them with a safe, nurturing environment in residential cluster homes. These homes are thoughtfully designed to foster a sense of family, with separate bedrooms for boys, girls, and the “mother” of each house. The Village also has a dedicated baby manager available around the clock to care for the infants at the center.

Attaq Rise Against Hunger

Nelson Mandela Day Initiative – 18 July 2024

As part of our broader CSI strategy, we remain committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most and this year we also partnered with Attaq in support against hunger. In early childhood development, a period crucial to the building blocks of educational achievement, sweeping away hunger unlocks a world of possibilities for pre-school children.

Over the last two years, the Attacq Foundation has been funding, packing and distributing nutritious meals to Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres in regions within the three provinces in which the Attacq group operates. The Motseng team went to help with the meal packing initiative hosted at the Mall of Africa’s Waterfall Park in Waterfall City, on Nelson Mandela Day.

The mission of the Attaq Foundation resonates with Motseng’s core values, and believe that the link between educational achievement and hunger merits attention. Through partnerships like these, Motseng continues to drive forward its vision of creating empowered communities across South Africa.
